Hello! I’m David Sackrider.

I am a self-sufficient and multi-skilled storyteller with 3 years of experience focusing on political coverage. I am motivated to continue refining my craft, delivering dynamic stories that find the heart of complex political issues with an eye for the visual.

My love for broadcasting started in high school, where I earned local and national recognition for my work with MDM-TV.com. There, I worked as a Play-by-Play Announcer and Color Analyst, calling hundreds of sporting events for the MHSAA TV Network.

In 2023, I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science and Communication and Media. In my studies, I focused on classes that highlighted the intersection between politics and media, including those that analyzed how the media can influence political behavior and taught how best to cover national campaigns. I also lead the campus television station, WOLV TV, where I earned statewide honors for my reporting.

For the last two years, I have worked as a Multimedia Journalist in Flint, MI. That experience has allowed me to take a major step forward in my ability to convey a story visually. I often am responsible for every piece of my stories from the ground up, including writing, shooting, editing, and, on occasion, running my own live shots. I also served as a fill-in anchor and was the station's go-to reporter for political coverage, finding ways to demonstrate the impact of statewide policy decisions on our local viewers and traveling around the state to cover important campaign events.
